One of Harare’s leading hotels, Cresta Oasis Hotel and Apartments, was on Friday re-launched following a US$3,5 million facelift.
Cresta Oasis, which opened its doors in 1975, received a major facelift, which is set to keep it cement its position as a leader in the conference and business travel segments.
“Our decision to undertake a US$3,5-million refurbishment programme was made in order to bring about a renaissance of everything that is best about this hotel, and I am delighted with the final product, I am sure you all are,” said Cresta Hotels country director Chipo Mandela at the colourful ceremony.
“It is attractive, pleasant, efficient and welcoming.
“We have confidence in our sector and in this city, and indeed in our whole country, and this is reflected in the significant investment we have undertaken to bring about this renewal of Cresta Oasis.”
She said work undertaken in the past year involved all apartments and bedrooms, public areas, conference rooms, the creation of a new conference room on the site of the previous public bar and the creation of an exciting new bar and entertainment centre in the old night club on the eastern side of the hotel.
“In all the bedrooms and apartments, bathrooms were upgraded, an important factor given that almost 60% of decision-making related to choosing accommodation is based on perceptions of the bathrooms,” Mandela said.
“During the upgrade, we have also created at least five high-end digital smart rooms with no human interface from check-in to check-out.”
The hotel also created a new hotel entrance along Kwame Nkrumah Avenue and closed entrances through the sanitary lanes, which are now used as service lanes.
“As a result of the new entrance, the reception has also been repositioned to face the new entrance,” Mandela added.
“We renovated all the car parks and installed car ports in the main car park to improve the aesthetics of the hotel.”
Cresta Hotels is a leading hospitality group in the region with five hotels in Zimbabwe, 11 in Botswana and one in Zambia.
